Hillary Clinton has a new take on the 2nd Amendment, and she's calling on responsible gun owners to support gun control measures against extreme lobbies like the NRA.
Hillary Clinton is not against guns. In fact, she even wants to “take back” the 2nd Amendment from more radical view holders like the NRA. According to a report from the Huffington Post, the Democratic presidential candidate revealed at a town hall in New Hampshire that she had a plan to bring responsible gun owners together and have a serious conversation about gun control.
Part of Clinton’s plan includes lifting the veil of legal immunity enjoyed by gun manufacturers and sellers granted by a Congressional bill passed in 2005. Facing harsh opposition from pro-gun groups like the National Rifle Association, Clinton suggested that the best way to face off against the group’s political might would be to gain the support of gun owners that support taking measures to end the rash of gun violence that plagues the country.
The idea of a new rival organization to the NRA sounds strange, but it may just work. Following yet another mass shooting at a college in Oregon last week, Clinton was convinced that the only way to bring serious talks about gun control reform to the table was by making the voice of concerned responsible gun owners heard. While the majority of Americans don’t support a desertion of the 2nd amendment, that same majority also supports stronger background checks for gun sales both in a store and at gun shows.
Clinton remembered the numerous shooting tragedies the country has faced at the town hall, and criticized other candidates’ lax stance on the tragedy.
