A Canadian model had the white part of one eyeball injected with purple ink, and has now come to regret the decision.
If you’re thinking of getting your eyeball tattooed because you think it would look cool, a Canadian model is urging you to think twice. Catt Gallinger, 24, wanted to get a “scleral tattoo” earlier this month that involved getting ink injected into the white outer layer of the eyeball, but things have gone horribly wrong.
She posted a series of rather nasty pictures to her Facebook page back in September that shows the purple dye seeping from her eye, and her sclera swollen and crusty. It’s so bad that Gallinger is thinking of getting her eyeball removed.
Gallinger thinks an inexperienced tattooist is to blame for the problems, and the needle was too large. Also, the artist injected the ink, which was not diluted, far too deep in the eye, she says.
“I took my eyesight for granted and trusted someone I shouldn’t have. And even if this heals, my eyesight is not going to be back,” she said in one of her video updates.
