Once again, a "Christian numerologist" is predicting that this time, for a real, a rogue planet will destroy the Earth.
Yet again, a “Christian numerologist” is making a ridiculous claim that humanity is about to be destroyed by a rogue planet that somehow scientists have failed to spot hurtling toward Earth. And yes, they’ve made this prediction many times before, but this time it’s for real, conspiracy theorists say.
It’s called the Nibiru prophecy, or Planet X, which holds that God will bring about the end of days by sending a rogue planet to smash into Earth or zoom close by it, causing a cataclysmic event. If this sounds familiar, it’s because numerologists last predicted it on Sept. 23, and obviously, that didn’t happen.
These numerologists hold that Nibiru lives on the outer edges of the solar system, and it orbits the sun every 3,600 years. If such a planet were to come near Earth this weekend, surely it would be impossible for scientists to miss, and yet somehow that doesn’t sway the conspiracy theorists.
“The Nibiru cataclysm is a supposed disastrous encounter between the Earth and a large planetary object (either a collision or a near-miss) which certain groups believe will take place in the early 21st century,” according to Wikipedia. “Believers in this doomsday event usually refer to this object as Planet X or Nibiru. The idea that a planet-sized object will collide with or closely pass by Earth in the near future is not supported by any scientific evidence and has been rejected by astronomers and planetary scientists as pseudoscience and an Internet hoax.”
