An alarming new reality about credit cards is dawning next month, so consumer beware, you could paying a lot for very little.
If you’ve used credit cards before, and that includes just about everybody in the United States, there’s a hidden danger you may not realize. New credit card rewards schemes may be tempting and convince you to open a new line of credit, but starting July 1 lenders are cutting back on offers big time, meaning that once-lucrative credit card may just be financial trouble.
Strict new interchange fee regulations will begin next month, meaning less revenue for lenders and therefore less rewards for consumers. Now, it’ll be difficult to get much in the way of rewards if you have a credit card, so beware before agreeing to those terms.
The lenders are still trying to convince you that the rewards are there, but if you read through the fine print, you may find you’re paying more over the long haul, experts say.
