Jamie Snider of California was battling cancer and was able to hold out until the twins' birth before her body gave out.
A pair of twins is now without their mother after she passed away after a long battle with cancer just hours after giving birth to them. Jamie Snider of California flashed a big smile in images on social media throughout her ordeal, but in the end, her body wasn’t able to endure the multiple stresses on her body from cancer and the pregnancy.
Willow Coigny, the sister of the twins’ father, flew to California to help the family, and will raise the twins with her husband Kevin Smith along with the twins’ father, according to news reports.
The babies were born at 33 weeks via cesarean section, which took place March 16. The surgery also included a hysterectomy to target the cancer, and although Snider seemed to be on the way to recovery, the next morning her heart gave out. A family friend has since started a gofundme page to help raise money for the babies.
The text from the gofundme page is below.
On Thursday, March 16th 2017, a pair of twins were born at 33 weeks via cesarean section at Stanford Medical Care Center in Palo Alto CA. The mother, Jamie Snider, age 30 of Fresno CA, was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cervical cancer at the very beginning stages of her pregnancy. Jamie underwent intensive treatment and therapies for her disease while continuing to nourish the growth of her two little miracles. The twins, Camila and Nico are tiny, healthy, vibrant and stable. With so much sadness in my heart I regret to report that on Friday morning, March 17th 2017, Jamie’s health took a fatal turn and she passed away of congenital heart failure in an emergency surgery that morning. Heath Coigny, her partner and father to Camila and Nico, will relocate to Pelham NH as soon as the twins are ready to travel.
As Heath works towards establishing a stable and loving environment to raise his infant son and daughter, his dedicated sister Willow and husband Kevin Smith will be taking the family into their home. Willow and Kevin also have two sons of their own. In addition to extensive medical costs for the twins, the Coigny family will have to cover travel expenses to get them to NH safely. They will also be in need of basic infant necessities (diapers, formula, etc.). If you have known the Coigny/Smith family for any length of time, you know that they are strong, compassionate, kind-hearted human beings who would graciously give whatever they could for the chance to help another human being overcome any hardships.
The family has been through so much already and the journey ahead will bring further challenges. We would be eternally grateful for any donations to help the Coigny family provide Camila and Nico with the funds needed to start their lives on solid ground. Please help us spread the word and show them the love and support they need.
