The Amazon founder has his eyes on a space, and he just posted imagery of an incredible piece of machinery that aims to get there.
Jeff Bezos is best known for creating the online retail site Amazon, making him one of the richest men in the world, and as with most multi-billionaires he’s dreaming a bit bigger these days. He’s been working hard on a private spaceflight company called Blue Origin, and he just tweeted out a picture of a big milestone in that effort: the first full-scale BE-4 rocket engine that will serve as the main engine on its future orbital rocket.
Blue Origin has been working on this engine since 2011. Bezos, undoubtedly excited by this huge development, tweeted out a couple of pictures recently of the finished engine, adding that more fully assembled BE-4s would soon be ready for unveiling.
BE-4 is likely to head to the test site in West Texas where Blue Origin has their test stands. A total of seven BE-4 engines will be needed to launch the New Glenn, the big rocket that Blue Origin is producing. This reusable vehicle will be able to carry heavy payloads and passengers into orbit.
