The winner of the Miss Austria pageant Ena Kadic has died after falling down the face of a mountain in Tyrol, Austria while out on a run. According to a report from the Independent, Kadic suffered serious head trauma and injuries to her pelvis and lung after falling from the Bergisel mountain on Friday.
Kadic was able to call her brother for help before she went unconscious. Two students on a walk discovered her and quickly reported the accident to authorities.
Kadic was taken to a hospital in Innsbruck where she remained in critical condition until her death on Tuesday.
Ms Kadic was born in 1989 of Bosnian and Austrian descent, and won the Miss Austria pageant in 2013. She attended the Miss World pageant in 2013 as well in Bali, Indonesia.
It remains unclear exactly how Ms. Kadic fell from the mountainside, but the area where she was jogging is certainly not for novice hikers. Between May and September of this year, roughly 115 people died and 2,385 were injured in the Austrian Alps.
