After nearly a decade of silence from Capcom for their most beloved series, Keiji Inafune, original creator of MegaMan and former Research and Development director of Capcom, looks to bring his spiritual successor to MegaMan to the world after a delay and some setbacks.
Fans of the MegaMan series have endured a great amount over the past decade.
From the cancelled, still highly-demanded MegaMan Legends 3, to the lack of any new releases or new coming from developer Capcom, hope slowly has diminished as the years dragged forward.
Keiji Inafune hopes to cure the world of at least some of that melancholy..
Dubbed the ‘spiritual successor’ to Capcom’s MegaMan, series creater Keiji Inafune, with publisher Deep Silver, are looking to release after a lengthy development process their title Mighty No. 9 in February of 2016 according to Forbes.
For those unfamiliar with the name, Keiji Inafune is the original creator of MegaMan. This game returns to the roots of what he originally created with the series from Capcom.
Now head of his own production team, Comcept, Inafune looks to breathe life back into what fans have clamored for over the years.
The development of this has not gone without its troubles through.
After a highly successful Kickstarter campaign to receive funding originally from fans the world over, the developer had the game pushed back and delayed a couple of times.
Reaching over $4 million dollars from the campaign, releasing on almost every platform imaginable, from PC/Mac/Linux to the handheld gaming devices Nintendo’s 3DS and Sony’s Playstation Vita, Mighty No. 9 hopes to be the game that reinvigorates the gaming communities love for Inafune’s successor to his legacy as Capcom’s Research and Development director.
Mighty No. 9 is scheduled for a release date, from their website, in North America February 9th, 2016 and will launch worldwide February 12th, 2016.
